Norman Chaney To Leave Soon For Part In Hal Roach Comedy

By dint of excess avoirdupois, a generous sense of humor and other natural qualifications, Norman Chaney, an 11-year-old Baltimore youngster, has won a place in the movies, it was announced today. Norman will leave for the West coast movie lots within the next few weeks to prepare for his role in a Hal Roach comedy.

Jack Roach, a motion-picture director, broke the glad tidings to Norman today. The rotund youngster grinned from ear to ear as he inquired:

"Mister, are you just kidding me because I'm fat?"

Lives At Halethorpe

The boy is the son of Norman T. Chaney, a Halethorpe electrical worker, and Mrs. Caroline Chaney. They reside at 18 Selma avenue, Halethorpe. The mother will accompany Norman on his westward trek. The father will trail along later.

A member of the fifth grade of a county school, Norman professes to hold high standing in all markings except deportment.

"That's pretty low," he explains, "because I make the other kids laugh so easily."
