To Jackie Cooper
(Alias Skippy)

No doubt you are the busiest of chaps
With work to do - and silly books to study;
But I'm a nervy cuss and thought perhaps -
That you could do a favor for me, Buddy.
I saw you on the screen the other night.
You made me howl - then brought me close to tears;
I played each game you played - I fought each fight;
I haven't been so entertained in years.

I wonder if you know the Kings and Queens
Of Hollywood - the stars of high degree.
No doubt you do - and your acquaintance means
An awful lot to wistful guys like me.
Please ask them over some day, Jackie, do -
I'll count on you for modesty and tact;
And youngster, spend a precious hour or two
To teach them what they're paid for - how to act!
