- To Jackie Cooper
- (Alias Skippy)
- No doubt you are the busiest of chaps
- With work to do - and silly books to study;
- But I'm a nervy cuss and thought perhaps -
- That you could do a favor for me, Buddy.
- I saw you on the screen the other night.
- You made me howl - then brought me close to tears;
- I played each game you played - I fought each fight;
- I haven't been so entertained in years.
- I wonder if you know the Kings and Queens
- Of Hollywood - the stars of high degree.
- No doubt you do - and your acquaintance means
- An awful lot to wistful guys like me.
- Please ask them over some day, Jackie, do -
- I'll count on you for modesty and tact;
- And youngster, spend a precious hour or two
- To teach them what they're paid for - how to act!
