jackie cooper writes review

During a recent conversation, Jackie Cooper, who is starred with Richard Dix in "Young Donovan's Kid" at the Orpheum, remarked to the publicity man of the theater that if he weren't an actor he'd be a writer. So the latter asked if he would write a story about the Radio picture. Jackie gladly consented and sent in his literary creation with a note saying, "Please let me know about the story and how you like it."

Here is the story:

By Jackie Cooper

"I think 'Donovan's Kid' is a very good picture and Mr. Niblo is a very swell director. We had a lot of fun on the picture and I think Richard Dix is a wonderful guy.

"But one thing I didn't like about it was that the minute you get through with a scene they would yank you off to school. I never like to start school, but after I get interested in it I hate to quit.

"Well, I want to tell you about the crying scene. I was all ready to do it, but after I did the scene I thought it was all right 'cause I didn't hear the director say it was bad, so I ran over and ate a sanwich and when I got through with the sanwich they called me and said, 'Jackie, come on and do that scene over again.' That sanwich pepped me up so it took a long time for me to cry and after we finished that scene Rich and I went over where the lunch boxes were and ate a whole lot. I ate three hard boiled eggs and two sanwiches and Rich had one egg and one sanwich.

"We had plenty of fun on the picture and I want to tell you that Mrs. Nelson, the teacher, who taught me, is a very lovely teacher. Gee, I am sorry the picture is over because we had so much fun on it."
