All of the Fair and Square Juniors remember Jean Darling, the little actress who was in Superior a few months ago, don't you? Jean, you all know, is a member of the Fair and Square club. She was enrolled when here on her visit.
The picture shown above and the story that appears below were sent in by Violet Burke, Chicago, a new Junior. Violet is 12 years old and already a reporter. She writes lots of stories concerning young stars in Hollywood.
So here is Violet's first story for the Fair and Square page:
JEAN DARLING

When Jean Darling visited in Chicago recently, she came all packed with questions and fun! Some of the things she wanted to know, were: why diamonds cost more than any other stones, what is vegetable soup before the vegetables are put in, and whether cannibals include hair in their meals when human beings are on the menu!
Jean and I talked everything over, but the only question we could answer was the second, and we weren't very sure of that, either. We just guessed that it could be "water." And as for the third, we thought perhaps if the hair is extra pretty, the cannibals must eat it. And if the hair is like Jean's, then I just know that it is swallowed with one big gulp!
When we couldn't think of any more questions to figure out, we played house. But only for a minute, because we had to speak for Jean's doll (it can only say "mama") and we got tired. Then we played parade, Jean being the whole army - soldiers, general, drum-major, etc. - and I, (by choice) was the "on-lookers" - watching the parade!
Now to get down to business. Which is probably what you are waiting for.
I know that you need no "introduction," or description, of Jean. So I will just go right ahead.
Jean is very fond of sports, and especially loves to swim and ride horse-back.
Indoors she loves to play with her dollies, and to sew for them. Also loves to read fairy-tales.
Sings, takes dancing lessons, and private French lessons.
Says she loves honey "best of anything on earth!"
During her nine short years of life, Jean has played in over 40 pictures, and has been touring the country headlining in vaudeville for some time. Jean started in "business" at four years of age.
Just this month, Jean made an Easter greeting "short," which will be shown in many theaters all over the country. You will see her with her arms full of Easter lilies - and then again with a white dove.
