Sayre people had an opportunity to see and hear Darla Jean Hood, of "Our Gang" comedies, Culver City, California, when she made a personal appearance at the Ute, Sunday afternoon (the 26th) at the time her picture "Hearts is Thumps" was on the screen. She sang two songs and tap danced for a pleased audience.
Darla sings and dances remarkably well for a girl only six years old.
Mrs. Claud Hood, her mother and business manager, says that she had an increase in her salary recently.
Her next and best picture is "The Follies of 1938," a two reel Hal Roach picture.
Darla and Mrs. Hood went to Oklahoma City, Tuesday (the 28th), to be with Kathryn Duffy, widely known dancing teacher who was first to recognize Darla's talent. They returned to Sayre Wednesday (the 29th) and will return to their home Friday (the 31st), after having spent Christmas vacation with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Danner, North Fourth street.
Darla will be glad if her friends and admirers write to her and tell her how they enjoy her pictures and if they like her songs or dances best. She will send an autographed picture of herself to those who write to her c/o Hal Roach Studio, Culver City, Calif.
