Dear Jess:

I was so glad to hear from you. Sorry the past two years have not been tip top for you, but you are not alone. They have been dull, drab and dreary for me too. My agent keeps saying things will get better just as the news syndicate tells you - - - - - - however, things got so slow, I finally went to work in Westwood as a legal secretary for eight months. Then my husband's had some bad spells and I had to quit to stay home with him.

Now, I am happy to say, things are looking up. I was finally able to get my husband in a convalescent home where he is doing very well now that he is getting therapy. This also gives me time now to get busy trying to "revive" my career. In fact, I have done about 10 "General Hospitals," a "Days of Our Lives," a few tv and radio commercials, and was in Chicago recently where I sang at a convention and did a college lecture.

I am selling my house and moving to an apartment, so I will be free now to pursue my career again. Unhampered now by responsibilities at home, I'll give one more try at the business I love.

I am so glad you thought enough of me to write and I do hope that when something great happens with you and your writing you will drop me a line and let me know about it.

Warmest Regards,

Darla Hood Granson

Special note: Darla's husband, Jose, had suffered a stroke and been confined to a wheelchair.
