Patsy May Longs To Be Ice Skater

source: The Dayton Daily News of Dayton, OH (Oct. 15, 1944)

The end of the rainbow for Patsy May, former "Our Gang" comedy star, is on ice. She longs to be a great skater and her ideal is Bolita - she would rather be on her skates than in any leading role in Hollywood. At least this is what she confided to a reporter who visited her for a brief moment Saturday (the 14th) when she danced at a luncheon which Mrs. Edgar Sherk gave at her home on Patterson rd.

Patsy came to Dayton with her grandmother, Mrs. Clara May, to help her great-grandfather, Jesse Collins of the Wilmington pike, celebrate his 85th birthday. She leaves Sunday for Chicago to appear in a new picture which she says is "a military secret." Patsy is now 10 years old and has worked for a number of Hollywood studios. She plays in "Reckless Age," that was her last picture. She appeared in Our Gang Comedies from the age of 18 months to five years, as "Baby Patsy" and she assures us that the comedies will come back after the war.

Patsy visited Dayton when she was five years old and then returned to Hollywood to continue her career in juvenile parts though not in "Our Gang" comedies. She once played with Bing Crosby in "The Star Maker." She attends Holly Professional school and is taking skating lessons and "loves it." With all of that she is still just a normal, pretty little girl who loves to play, and giggles while she talks.
