full name: Mildred Gene Kornman
childhood professional name: Mildred Kornman
adult professional name: Ricki VanDusen
born July 10, 1925, in Beverly Hills, CA
died Aug. 19, 2022, in Mt. Vernon, WA
Special note: Much of the information about Mildred's career away from the Roach studio derives from John Frank's excellent tribute to
Mildred at mildredkornman.com.
Also of note: Since Mildred changed her name to Ricki VanDusen upon reaching adulthood, I'll be referring to her as Ricki starting with the year
1943.
1925
- Mildred's first brush with fame came almost immediately, as The Los Angeles Times reported on July 20th of this year that Harold Lloyd's wife
(and former leading lady) Mildred Davis had a namesake: the infant daughter of Lloyd's still photographer, Gene Kornman. A photo of Mildred holding
Mildred was also included.
- On December 11th, 5-month-old Mildred did her first work at the Roach studio. Along with her mother, "Baby Kornman" (as she's listed
in the payroll ledger) served as an extra in the Our Gang film, "Baby Clothes."
1926
- In March of this year, Mildred began to be featured off-and-on in the Our Gang series.
- In September, Mildred was signed to a long-term contract at $50 a week.
- During this period, Mildred's official nickname was publicised as "Vermicelli," or "Vermie" for short, though there isn't any
indication that either name was used in the actual films.

- After the week ending January 22nd of this year, Mildred took a leave of absence and accompanied her older sister Mary as the latter traveled the country on
her vaudeville tour with Mickey Daniels. Originally, the leave was supposed to last for 3 months, but Mary fell ill and Mildred came back early, returning to the
payroll the week ending February 26th.
- The Oakland Tribune of July 10th reported that the Our Gang kids would soon make a personal appearance in that city to perform for some orphans.
- Around this time, the Our Gang kids, as well as Laurel & Hardy, were sent to the TeeVee studio to do an experimental broadcast. Since there isn't a
date associated with this occurrence, it may be that it happened after Mildred left the series.
