The VHS volumes listed below were released by a private seller who is no longer selling Our Gang videos.
Of the nine volumes of silent films, I've only acquired three, but have information on the rest. If anybody
knows which versions of the films appear on the remaining volumes, then please let me know.
releases:
- Our Gang Silent Comedies Vol. 1 (VHS)
- Contents:
- Ask Grandma (no. 38) - This is a nearly complete
print with a non-original illustrated opening title, but original inter-titles. The print totals about 17:40,
with 17:24 of it original footage.
- Official Officers (no. 40) - This is a home movie
print from Kodak Cinegraph. The inter-titles are remade, but appear to be worded the same as the originals. The print
totals 20:34, with 17:35 of it original footage. Ignoring the inter-titles, most of the original film is
included.
- Mary, Queen Of Tots (no. 41) - This is a home movie
print with remade opening and closing titles, but is otherwise original and appears to contain virtually the whole film.
The print totals 19:51, with 19:38 of it original footage.
- Shivering Spooks (no. 52) - This print has an
original opening title but no crew credits. The rest of the film is original except for a generic end title followed by
the Pathé rooster. The footage totals 18:07, with 18:01 of it original.
- Olympic Games (no. 63) - This print is entirely
original, but with fair picture quality, and might be missing a small amount of footage. Nevertheless, it's as

- Our Gang Silent Comedies Vol. 2 (VHS)
- Contents:
- Those Awful Hats (an early silent film)
- Shirley Temple Newsreel excerpts
- The Spanking Age (no. 80) - This seems to be the only
video release of this film. The opening titles are original, but the end title reveals it to be a home movie print from
Blackhawk. The print totals 19:57, with 19:52 of it original footage. At least one inter-title is missing from
this version.
- The Fourth Alarm! (no. 53) - This is essentially
the same as the Passport Video version, but with a little bit of footage missing. The print totals 20:11, with
20:09 of it original footage.

original inter-titles, and is much better-looking and more complete than the Video Classics version. This makes it
the best available version, even though it's missing a bit of footage. The print totals 17:50, with 17:47 of
it original footage.
- The Champeen! (no. 9) - This print is identical
to the one from A-1 Video.

original.
- Cradle Robbers (no. 28) - This is a print from
Thunderbird Films, with their company name superimposed over what is otherwise an original opening title. There is an
additional title card crediting the organ player. Many of the inter-titles are intact, but there is a long stretch
where they seem to have been removed. The picture quality is fairly poor. The footage totals 16:23, and seems to
include virtually the whole film.
- High Society (no. 17) - This is a TV print from the
Mischief Makers series entitled "Mickey's New Home." The footage totals 12:26, with 11:59 of
it original.
- Shootin' Injuns (no. 39) - This is a home movie
print from Kodak Cinegraph. The crew credits are original, but the inter-titles have been remade with the original
wording. The footage totals 19:10, with about 15:50 of it original.
- Our Gang Silent Comedies Vol. 4 (VHS)
- Contents:
- Boys Will Be Joys (no. 42) - This print is mostly

of it original, so virtually the entire film is included.

of it original.

totals 18:29, with 18:26 of it original.
- Seeing The World (no. 55) - This print has the
original opening title, crew credits and inter-titles, but a different end title. The picture quality is fair. The

print from Blackhawk. There is a bit of footage shown here that isn't in the Exclusive version, but there is also some
missing from this version. The footage totals 20:31, with 18:49 of it original. This print is identical to the
Grapevine version.

from Blackhawk. All of the titles are remade, but the wording appears to be original. The footage totals 21:36, with

with 14:34 of it original. This print probably derives from the Grapevine release.
- The Glorious Fourth (no. 64) - This print appears to
contain about two-thirds of the film, with a generic opening title and the first half inter-titles missing. The

- Our Gang Silent Comedies Vol. 9 (VHS)
- Contents:
- Giants Vs. Yanks (no. 12) - This is a TV episode from
Those Lovable Scallawags With Their Gangs. The video copy of this print is poor, rendering the quality of the print
somewhat irrelevant. It isn't clear which source was used for this, since the soundtrack is slowed down. The footage

complete, but with remade titles. The wording appears to be authentic, however. The footage totals 28:25, with about
25:00 of it original. This print derives from the Video Yesteryear release.
