born October 1896 in Los Angeles CA.
died November 25, 1954, at the age of 58.
name: Arthur Lloyd
Art Lloyd photographed nearly half of all the Our Gang films ever made. As can be seen below, he was also
kept busy on other series during the same period, most notably the Laurel & Hardy series. It's been written that
Lloyd was Laurel's favorite cameraman. Unlike directors, cinematographers only need to be involved with a film during
the actual shooting. They don't have to bother themselves with pre- or post-production, which explains
Lloyd's impressive filmography during the talkie era. Instances in which shooting dates for different films overlap
probably indicate a second photographer filling in for Lloyd on one of the two films. As can be seen, though, there is
very little overlap. It can probably also be assumed that the relatively low number of credits during the silent era is
the result of gaps in the information rather than a smaller workload.
1922
The earliest reference I've found regarding Art Lloyd is in Smile When The Raindrops Fall by
Brian Anthony & Andy Edmonds, in which they describe Lloyd's somewhat humorous involvement as a hula girl in
"The Follies Of Culver City" in December 1922. This was a stage production presented at the Roach studio and
attended by people from the film industry. Its success inspired an annual tradition. Our next Lloyd reference doesn't
appear for another two years.
1924
Lloyd's earliest known credit is for the Our Gang film "Jubilo, Jr." which began shooting in
February of 1924. Lloyd probably photographed later Our Gang films for which no photography credit is available, since he
was their regular cinematographer up until early 1933. This might include "The Sun Down Limited" (no.
31), which was made during the transition from Frank Young to Lloyd.

list anybody in his book. For the time being, I'll leave the film off the list.
